New Delhi, 21 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that strict action would be taken against those involved in irregularities related to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). He said the government acted immediately after the paper leak incident came to light, with 13 people arrested and sent to jail.

The Prime Minister added that to ensure that students’ futures were not affected, the examination was conducted again and the results were declared without any delay.

Prime Minister Modi made these remarks during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party’s ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting held at the Parliament House complex on Tuesday morning, the second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Giving details of the meeting held at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament House, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Prime Minister emphasised the need for strict and effective measures to prevent incidents such as paper leaks in the future.

Rijiju said the Prime Minister assured that those who play with the future of students would not be spared and that the guilty would face strict punishment.

Prime Minister Modi said that paper leaks were not an issue limited to any one state or only the central government. He stressed that wherever such incidents occur across the country, everyone must come together to ensure punishment for those involved in such illegal activities.

The Prime Minister also appealed to all political parties to rise above partisan interests in the NEET issue and work together to protect the future of young students. He called for strict action and collective efforts to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi urged NDA MPs to remain united during the Monsoon Session, effectively present the government’s viewpoint, and cooperate in ensuring the smooth functioning of Parliament.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said that the Prime Minister guided the MPs and provided directions on several important issues. She said the Prime Minister particularly emphasised the need to address the aspirations of the youth.

Ranaut said Prime Minister Modi also shared the government’s strategy regarding the NEET issue and expressed concern that the achievements and successes of young Indians across various fields were not receiving adequate attention.

The Prime Minister urged MPs to highlight these achievements more effectively among the public and ensure that the country’s youth-driven progress receives wider recognition.
