New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.):

Leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday reached the residence of Union Minister JP Nadda for discussions with the government. CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das shared a picture on social media platform X, confirming that the party leaders had arrived for the meeting.

In his X post, Das wrote, “At JP Nadda’s residence. Immediately dismiss Pradhan!”

Earlier, Das had informed that after waiting for more than two hours, he and Ashutosh Ranka had met JP Nadda at his residence for ten minutes. He said that the leaders had submitted a written letter outlining their demands and that Nadda assured them that he would hold internal discussions on the matter.

According to information available, the CJP leaders have placed three major demands before the government — the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the release of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, and a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET examination paper leak.

On the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, a large number of youths gathered at Jantar Mantar and areas surrounding Parliament following a call by the social media campaign Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The crowd attempted to move towards Parliament, following which police used force and fired tear gas shells to stop them. Several students were reportedly injured, while some police personnel and security officials also sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, several opposition leaders also reached the protest site. Samajwadi Party MPs Dimple Yadav, Iqra Hasan and Priya Saroj said that they would not leave the spot until the demands of the students were accepted.

Students from across the country gathered from Parliament to Barakhamba and raised slogans against the Modi government, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Earlier, the CJP had announced a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20. The organisation had also released a missed-call number and appealed to a large number of students to participate in the march. Following the appeal, a significant number of students gathered at the protest venue to extend their support.
