New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.): Security arrangements have been intensified in the national capital ahead of the proposed Parliament march on Monday, coinciding with the first day of the Monsoon Session. Meanwhile, climate activist and social worker Sonam Wangchuk has laid down three conditions for ending his hunger strike.

In a social media post, Wangchuk said that he would end his fast on July 20 only if any one of his three conditions was fulfilled. Meanwhile, his wife has approached a Delhi High Court division bench seeking his transfer to a private hospital.

Wangchuk said he would end his hunger strike if the government accepts responsibility for shortcomings in the education system and issues such as question paper leaks. His second condition is that the leadership of the CJP should be allowed to reach the entrance of Parliament, and Members of Parliament from different political parties should assure them that they would raise the issue inside the House.

The third condition stated by Wangchuk is that if he becomes unable to continue due to health-related or other reasons, MPs from various political parties should visit him at the hospital and provide the same assurance that they would take up the matter in Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of several metro stations, including Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth, for general commuters until further notice, citing security concerns.

In view of the Parliament march, security has been strengthened around the Parliament complex and adjoining areas. Personnel from the Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force and Vajra vehicles have been deployed, while barricades have been placed around the Parliament Marg police station area.

The authorities have increased security measures to maintain law and order during the protest and ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament proceedings during the Monsoon Session.
