New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.): Nine newly elected members of the Rajya Sabha were administered the oath of office on Monday, the first day of the Parliament’s Monsoon Session.

Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath to the newly elected members as they formally assumed their responsibilities in the Upper House.

The members who took oath include Mukeshbhai J. Rathva of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Gujarat, Pawan Khera of the Congress from Karnataka, Mahesh Kevat of the BJP from Madhya Pradesh, James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma of the National People’s Party from Meghalaya, Khiangte Lalhmingthanga from Mizoram, Satish Poonia of the BJP from Rajasthan, and Prakash Chik Baraik, Sushmita Dev and Sukhendu Sekhar Ray from West Bengal.
