New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.):

Leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) met Union Minister J.P. Nadda at his official residence on Monday and submitted a memorandum outlining their key demands. Photographs of the meeting and the memorandum submission were later made public.

Earlier, CJP spokesperson Sourabh Das had shared details of the meeting in a post on social media platform X. He wrote, “At J.P. Nadda’s residence. Remove Pradhan immediately!”

In another post, Das said that after waiting for more than two hours, he and Ashutosh Ranka met J.P. Nadda at his residence for around ten minutes.

“We have submitted a written letter containing our demands, and he has assured us that he will discuss the matter internally. The process is now underway,” Das wrote.

According to information shared by the CJP, the memorandum contained three principal demands: the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, and compensation of ₹1 crore to the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET examination paper leak controversy.

On the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, a large number of young people gathered at Jantar Mantar and in areas surrounding Parliament in response to a call by the social media campaign group Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The crowd reportedly reached the vicinity of Parliament, where police attempted to stop the march.

According to reports, police resorted to a lathi charge and fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. Several students were reportedly injured during the clashes, while some police personnel and security officials also sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, several Members of Parliament from opposition parties reached the protest site. Samajwadi Party MPs Dimple Yadav, Iqra Hasan and Priya Saroj said they would not leave the venue until the students' demands were addressed.

Students from across the country gathered from Parliament Street to Barakhamba Road, raising slogans against the Narendra Modi government and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Notably, the CJP had announced a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20 and had also released a missed-call number urging students across the country to participate. Following the appeal, a large number of students assembled in Delhi to express their support.
