Tarn Taran, 12 July (H.S.): Tarn Taran Police have recovered 10 kg 900 grams of heroin allegedly dropped into Indian territory from Pakistan through a drone. The international market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around ₹55 crore.

According to the police, Valtoha police station received information late at night that some packets had been dropped through a drone in the fields of Jaswinder Singh, son of Bali Singh, near Behkan of village Lakhna.

Acting on the information, Head Sub-Inspector Vipin Kumar of Valtoha police station reached village Lakhna along with a police team. A joint search operation was launched in coordination with Border Security Force personnel.

During the search, the team recovered a plastic bag and several loose packets from the fields. When weighed, the recovered material was found to be 10 kg 900 grams of heroin.

Police have seized the contraband and registered a case against unknown smugglers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Valtoha police station. Further investigation is underway to identify the accused and trace the network involved in the cross-border smuggling attempt.
