Alappuzha, 12 July (H.S.): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday issued a strong warning to former minister and senior party leader G. Sudhakaran, saying his continued public criticism of the party could create law and order problems if he did not change his approach.
Addressing a march to Sudhakaran's MLA office organised by the CPM Ambalappuzha Area Committee, CPM Alappuzha district secretary R. Nassar said the party had shown considerable restraint but warned that there was a limit to its patience.
Sudhakaran must stop insulting the party and its leaders from public platforms. Political differences should not be settled in this manner. We have tolerated enough, but if the attacks continue, our cadre will be compelled to respond, Nassar said.
He cautioned that the party had committed workers with the capacity to react strongly and that it might not be possible for anyone to control their response if the provocations continued.
If such a situation arises, it could develop into a law and order issue. As an MLA, Sudhakaran has a responsibility to ensure that such circumstances do not arise, he said.
Nassar maintained that there would be no problem if Sudhakaran conducted himself with dignity and refrained from repeatedly attacking the party. However, he warned that the public would eventually respond if the criticism continued unchecked.
He also criticised Sudhakaran's conduct at a recent function held at the Government School in Neerkunnam, where the former minister was present. Nassar described the incident as inappropriate and alleged that the subsequent police cases registered against teachers were unjustified.
The protest march reflects the growing rift between Sudhakaran and the CPM leadership in Alappuzha, following a series of public remarks by the veteran leader that have embarrassed the party and intensified internal tensions.
