116-Year Legacy of Academic Excellence Welcomes New
Generation of Innovators: SHUATS VC
Prayagraj, 01 July (HS): The undergraduate (UG) counselling
for the academic session 2026-27 commenced on Wednesday at the Sam Higginbottom
University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS). The first day of
counselling, conducted for both Christian and General category candidates,
witnessed an overwhelming response. Out of the 300 students called for the
first phase, 270 successfully secured admission in various undergraduate
courses of their choice.
The program commenced with a word of prayer seeking
divine blessings, delivered by the University Chaplain, Rev. Lal Chung
Gangte. Following the prayer, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. (Ir.) Jonathan
Lal while greeting the new students and their families, shed light on the
university's monumental 116-year journey of success and educational pioneering.
He shared the profound vision of the university's founder, Dr. Sam Higginbottom
and his esteemed colleague, Dr. Mason Vaugh, who is widely revered as the
father of Indian Agricultural Engineering education.
You are not just taking admission into a university;
you are becoming part of a 116-year-old historic legacy. The foundation laid by
Dr. Sam Higginbottom and Dr. Mason Vaugh was built on the ethos of 'serving the
land and feeding the hungry.' Great Indian figures such as Pt Jawaharlal Nehru,
Indira Gandhi, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma etc visited this historic institution.
We expect you to carry this vision forward with dedication and
innovation,said Prof. Dr. Jonathan Lal.
Highlighting the academic framework, Pro-Vice Chancellor
(Academic), Prof. (Dr.) Ranu Prasad, stated:We welcome the new students
to an academic environment designed to foster critical thinking, practical
learning, and holistic development. At SHUATS, our curriculum is continuously
upgraded to meet global standards, ensuring that our graduates are
industry-ready and equipped to be future leaders.
Speaking on the administrative commitment to the students,
Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) C.J. Wesley, remarkedSHUATS has always prioritized
a transparent, merit-based, and student-friendly admission process. It is a joy
to see such a high turnout and enthusiasm among students and parents on day
one. We are committed to providing these young minds with a safe, disciplined,
and enriching campus life. The first day of counselling concluded smoothly,
with faculty members and administrative staff assisting the newly admitted
students through the document verification and orientation procedures. The
counselling for remaining ranks and courses will continue in the coming days as
per the notified schedule.
