New Delhi, 10 June (H.S.): The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a special resolution describing June 10 as a historic milestone in India’s democratic journey and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the country’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister. According to the resolution, “Narendra Modi has completed 4,399 days of uninterrupted service, surpassing the previous record of 4,398 days held by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.”

The Cabinet stated that the achievement symbolizes the strength of Indian democracy, public participation, and the trust reposed by the people. The resolution noted that the occasion comes at a time when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under Prime Minister Modi has completed 12 years in office and is approaching nearly 25 years of continuous governance experience.

The resolution described Prime Minister Modi’s public life as an example of dedication to nation-building and public welfare. It stated that under the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with All, Development for All), the welfare of the poor has remained at the center of governance. Through various government initiatives, housing, electricity, clean drinking water, direct benefit transfers, free food grains for more than 800 million people, and healthcare facilities for millions of underprivileged citizens have been provided.

The resolution also highlighted the empowerment of youth, women, and farmers. It referred to initiatives such as the expansion of the startup ecosystem, the Chandrayaan mission, women’s reservation, the Lakhpati Didi campaign, and the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

The Cabinet identified the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), One Rank One Pension (OROP), the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the introduction of new criminal laws, and labour reforms as major achievements. It also underscored strengthened national security, action against terrorism, the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, India’s successful G20 Presidency, and the country’s growing influence on the global stage as key accomplishments under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw briefed the media at the National Media Centre on the Cabinet decisions and the resolution. According to him, the political stability, dynamic governance, and visionary policies of the past 12 years have transformed India into the world’s fastest-growing major economy. Emphasizing this achievement, the Union Cabinet formally adopted a series of resolutions expressing gratitude and commitment for the future.

The resolutions stated: “The Union Cabinet extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this historic achievement. It expresses gratitude for the work carried out under his leadership for the welfare of the poor and the empowerment of disadvantaged sections of society. The Cabinet appreciates the policies under which more than 250 million Indians have risen out of poverty. It expresses gratitude for his unparalleled dedication and tireless service to the nation. It commends his efforts toward inclusive development and social justice. It praises his leadership in strengthening national security and safeguarding India’s interests. The Cabinet expresses its full support for his visionary resolve and leadership in building a Viksit Bharat. The Union Cabinet also extends its best wishes for the Prime Minister’s good health and long life.”

Separately, officials of the Prime Minister’s Office also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They stated that over the past 12 years, he has provided leadership marked by stability, transparency, good governance, inclusive development, and an unwavering commitment to national progress.
