
Chandrapur, 22 May (HS): Four women were killed in a
tigress attack on Friday morning. The incident occurred when the women who went
to collect Tendupatta (leaves for making Bidi) with a group of women in
Gujewahi forest area in Sindewahi Tehsil of Chandrapur district. A tigress
attacked the women in which four died.
The deceased have been identified as Kawdabai Dadaji
Mohurle (45), Anitabai Dadaji Mohurle (40), Sangita Santosh Chaudhari (50), and
Sunita Kaushik Mohurle (38). Whether they were attacked by a single tigress or
more could not be ascertained.
Thirteen women from Bhatti Mohalla from Gunjewahi
village had gone to collect Tendupatta on Friday morning.
The forest officials rushed to the site and
increased patrolling in the area.
In five months of 2026, 19 villages were killed in
the district in man-animal conflict.
