Amravati, 22 May (HS): A major fire broke out on

Thursday night in Harisal forest area of Gugamal Wildlife Section in Melghat

area of Amravati district. The area is on the Paratwada-Dharni main road.

Adv Bandya Sane of social organisation ‘Khoj’ who

was in the area informed the Forest Department an also posted video of the fire.

He alleged that the Forest officials did not reach the site immediately, which

resulted in spread of the forest fire. The traffic on the road was also

affected due to heavy smoke emanating due to the fire.

The cause of the fire, however, was not known.
