
New Delhi, May 22 (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Rukmini Akka, former Akhil Bharatiya Sah-Karyavahika of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti.
In a post on X on Friday, the Chief Minister described the news of Rukmini Akka’s passing as “extremely saddening.”
Rekha Gupta said that Rukmini Akka had dedicated her entire life to the ideals of nationalism, service and organisational work. She stated that her personality reflected a remarkable blend of sensitivity, discipline and commitment towards the empowerment of women.
The Chief Minister added that Rukmini Akka’s contribution to society and the organisation would always remain a source of inspiration. She prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the entire Sevika Samiti family to bear the loss.
It is noteworthy that Rukmini Akka passed away on Thursday night at her residence in Bengaluru at the age of 98. She had been suffering from age-related health complications.
Her mortal remains will be kept at her residence for final respects until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, following which her last rites will be performed at Harishchandra Ghat Rudrabhoomi.
