Kolkata, 22 May (H.S.): The West Bengal government has effected a major administrative reshuffle, transferring 17 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across various departments, municipal corporations, and district postings, according to a notification issued by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department.

According to Nabanna sources, the reshuffle aims to expedite administrative functioning and strengthen governance at the district level.

As per the order, 2010-batch IAS officer Sujoy Sarkar has been moved from his post as Commissioner of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and appointed as Commissioner of the State Textile and Sericulture Department, along with additional charge as Managing Director of state-run entity Tantuja.

He has been replaced by 2017-batch IAS officer Ravi Agarwal, who has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation. Agarwal was earlier serving as Additional District Magistrate (ADM) in Purulia.

2014-batch IAS officer Hindol Dutta, previously Associate Professor at the Netaji Subhas Administrative Training Institute, has been appointed as the Commissioner of Asansol Municipal Corporation.

KMDA Chief Executive Officer Nitin Singhania has been appointed as Senior Special Secretary in the Home and Hill Affairs Department. He has also been given additional responsibilities as Member Secretary of the Centre of Excellence in Public Management and Course Director of the Satyendranath Tagore Civil Service Study Centre.

Malda ADM Sheikh Ansar Ahmed has been transferred to West Midnapore in the same capacity, while 2013-batch IAS officer Rajat Nanda has been given additional charge as Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat and Director in the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, alongside his existing role in the Personnel Department.

East Burdwan ADM Dhiman Barai has been appointed Special Secretary in the Department of Technical Education, Training and Skill Development. Howrah ADM Priyadarshini S. has been made Special Secretary in the Consumer Affairs Department.

South 24 Parganas ADM Prashant Raj Shukla has been transferred to Bankura, while North Dinajpur ADM Suman Sourav Mohanty has been posted to West Burdwan and South Dinajpur ADM Rajesh has been transferred to Jalpaiguri.

2018-batch IAS officer Laxman Perumal R. has been moved from Bankura to Jhargram. Jalpaiguri ADM Sinjan Sekhar has been posted to Howrah, and Nadia ADM Archana P. Wankhede has been transferred to East Midnapore.

Additionally, 2020-batch IAS officer Manjeet Kumar Yadav has been transferred from Bankura to South 24 Parganas, Saurav Pandey from North Dinajpur to West Midnapore, and Ekam J. Singh from West Midnapore to Bankura.
