Guwahati, 22 May (HS): Traditional Assamese delicacies will now become a part of the ‘High Tea’ menu at the Assam Legislative Assembly. Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das said the initiative has been taken to showcase the rich food heritage of the state during Assembly sessions.

As part of the new arrangement, legislators and guests will be served selected local snacks, including narikolor pitha, tilor laru, nimki and a cookie during the tea break at the Assembly.

The decision is being viewed as a step towards promoting indigenous food culture and giving wider recognition to Assamese traditional items in official programmes and gatherings.----------
