
Bhubaneswar, 22 May (H.S.): In a major crackdown on financial irregularities in co-operative institutions, Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Tarini Prasad Tripathy, Managing Director of K. Singhpur Large Area Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society (LAMPCS) in Rayagada district, for allegedly embezzling society funds worth ₹75 lakh.
According to Vigilance officials, a detailed verification of documents revealed that the alleged fraud was carried out between 2024 and 2026. The accused is suspected of siphoning off the funds by systematically manipulating official records and financial documents.
The investigation further found that the misappropriated amount comprised savings and deposits belonging to primary members of the co-operative society, adversely affecting local stakeholders who relied on the institution for financial security.
In connection with the case, Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 8 dated 21.05.2026 has been registered against the accused under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The accused has been forwarded to the court, while further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
