Guwahati, 21 May (HS): Newly elected Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Ranjit Kumar Das, formally assumed charge of his office on Thursday after taking oath for a second term as Speaker of the House.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma escorted Das to the Speaker’s office in the Assembly premises in a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of his new tenure.

The occasion was attended by Protem Speaker Chandra Mohan Patowary, former Speaker Biswajit Daimary and Assam Gana Parishad president and minister Atul Bora, along with several senior legislators of the NDA alliance.

Expressing gratitude over the warm welcome and support extended by colleagues and alliance members, Das thanked all those present during the ceremonial occasion.----------
