Durgapur, 21 May (H.S.): Members of the Former Central Armed Police Force Welfare Association submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari demanding the establishment of a CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) Wellness Centre in Durgapur.
The organisation said retired personnel from forces such as the CRPF, BSF, SSB, CISF, ITBP and Assam Rifles living in Durgapur and nearby areas are facing severe difficulties in accessing medical treatment. At present, they are required to travel to distant cities for treatment at hospitals empanelled under the CGHS scheme, leading to financial burden and inconvenience.
According to the association, nearly 200 to 300 retired paramilitary personnel and their families reside in the region, making the need for local healthcare facilities extremely important.
The organisation urged the Chief Minister to take immediate steps for setting up a CGHS Wellness Centre in Durgapur to ensure better healthcare access for former jawans and their families.
Members of the association expressed hope that the state government would consider the demand positively and take necessary action soon.
