Nagpur, 30 Apr
(HS): Nashik District Court rejected the application for further police custody
of fraudster Ashok Kharat. He was presented in the court by SIT with demand for
police custody in the eighth offence filed against him. Kharat was arrested on
March 17 following a complaint related to sexual exploitation lodged by a
woman. Later several cases of sexual exploitation, cheating, illegal property transactions,
and money laundering were filed against him.
Since March 17
Kharat was in the custody of police for interrogation. The court, however,
denied demand for further police custody and remanded him the magisterial
custody till May 12.
Besides Nashik
police, SIT, and Enforcement Directorate are investigating into the charges
levelled against Ashok Kharat.
