
Nagpur, 30 Apr (HS): The Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) team seized cosmetic products worth Rs 15,186 from a shop in Itwari area
of Nagpur. The cosmetic products, manufactured in Pakistan have been brought illegally
in the market via Mumbai.
The cosmetics being sold in Nagpur have ‘Mad in
Pakistan’ label, and include Goree Beauty Cream (Fairness Cream), Fresh Face
Gold Plus, Golden Star Beauty Cream, Goree Whitening Body Lotion and Goree
Whitening Soap.
Name of the manufacturer, Batch number, Import
Number etc, were not mentioned on the products. These products contain high
quantity of mercury and steroids, which are harmful for human body. An office
has been registered with the Tehsil Police Station in Nagpur.
A few days ago FDA had seized same products from
Kamptee area of Nagpur district. Investigation into the supply chain has been
initiated.
FDA has appealed to the people not to use these
products, as they can harm to physical and mental health.
Goree Cream and other cosmetics are also available online.
The manufacturing company is based in Lahore in Pakistan.
