New Delhi, 30 April (H.S.): Amid changing West Asia dynamics and ongoing crisis, the central government assured Thursday that domestic cooking gas (LPG) supply stands at 100% nationwide. LPG booking periods are being efficiently managed, with no distributor facing stock shortages and supplies flowing uninterrupted.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma addressed an inter-ministerial press briefing in New Delhi, confirming 100% domestic LPG availability. Booking periods are under efficient management, online bookings have surged nearly 98%, and about 93% of cylinders are delivered via the Delivery Authentication Code system.

Commercial LPG supply has been restored to nearly 70%. A three-member committee of oil marketing companies' executive directors, coordinating with state governments, ensures continuous commercial LPG sales. This month saw 192,532 tonnes sold, including 8,500 tonnes just yesterday. No distributor reports stock depletion.

Chemicals and Fertilisers Ministry's Fertiliser Division Joint Secretary Aparna S. Sharma stated fertiliser stocks remain robust with supply exceeding needs. Against Kharif 2026's 390.54 lakh metric tonne (LMT) requirement, current stocks stand at 193.38 LMT—about 50%.

This reflects superior planning, pre-stocking, and logistics, ensuring stable supply across states. Urea availability is 73.81 LMT, DAP at 23.47 LMT, with other fertilisers ample. No changes to maximum retail prices.

Post-global crisis, domestic production and imports remain steady, boosting total availability by ~78 LMT (62.37 LMT domestic, 15.39 LMT imports). Global tenders secure ~38 LMT urea, with ~19 LMT tenders issued for phosphatic and potassic fertilisers. Supplies are under regular review and remain strong.

Ports, Shipping and Waterways Ministry Additional Secretary Mukesh Mangal informed all Indian seafarers in the region are safe. Continuous coordination with Foreign Ministry, Indian missions, and maritime stakeholders ensures no disruptions to seafarer welfare or operations. No incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels in past 24 hours.

Since West Asia crisis onset, the control room handled 8,155 calls and over 17,000 emails, including 121 calls and 285 emails yesterday. The ministry facilitated safe return of over 2,857 Indian seafarers, including 28 in last 24 hours. Port operations remain normal nationwide with no congestion reported.
