
Charaideo (Assam), 16 April (HS): A person has been arrested by Sonari Police in Assam’s Charaideo district on charges of having alleged links with the banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I). Police said interrogation of the accused is currently underway.
According to officials, the arrested individual has been identified as Wang alias Noni. He was apprehended during a security operation conducted in the Namtola area under Sonari subdivision. Authorities suspect that he had been working as a ‘linkman’ for ULFA (I), facilitating communication and providing logistical support to the outfit.
Security agencies have refrained from disclosing further details citing the ongoing investigation. The accused is being questioned to ascertain the extent of his involvement and to identify any possible network connections.
Police sources further revealed that earlier, Tinsukia Police had arrested seven alleged linkmen of ULFA (I) from different parts of the district. These arrests were carried out during multiple operations at various locations. Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the broader network and connections of those involved.----------
