Chandigarh, April 16 (H.S.): Panic gripped the city after a bomb threat was reported at a school in Sector-32. The threat, sent via email, triggered an immediate response from police, bomb disposal squads, and fire brigade teams, who rushed to the spot and cordoned off the premises to initiate a thorough search operation.

At the time of the incident, students were in their classrooms following morning prayers. The sudden arrival of a heavy police presence caused anxiety among students and staff. However, officials urged everyone to remain calm and cooperate. As a precautionary measure, security was heightened both inside and outside the school campus.

Police and bomb disposal teams carried out an extensive search of the entire campus, including classrooms, corridors, parking areas, store rooms, and open spaces. Advanced equipment is being used to detect any suspicious objects.

Fire brigade teams have also been deployed at the site to handle any emergency. Additional police personnel have been stationed outside the school, closely monitoring movement in the surrounding area.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the threat was sent via email. The police cyber team is working to trace the sender’s identity and location. Officials stated that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness and is being investigated from all angles.

Notably, several government and private schools in Chandigarh have received similar bomb threats via email in the past. Threats have also been sent to institutions such as the passport office, post office, Punjab Secretariat, High Court, and district courts. Although no explosives were found in earlier cases, security agencies have consistently conducted thorough checks with heightened vigilance.
