(HS): The corpse of a lady was discovered crammed inside a metal trunk that was
reportedly discarded by two guys in a car beside a highway in Uttar Pradesh's
Kaushambi, police said on Thursday. According
to the police, around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, several villagers observed two guys
arrive at the location near Kalyanpur village on NH-2 and drop a metal trunk
before racing away. The residents
promptly notified the police after suspecting anything odd. Kokhraj police arrived on the site and
discovered the corpse of a lady put inside the box, the police said, adding
that the victim seemed to be in her mid-30s.
The corpse was then taken into custody and transported for a post-mortem study,
according to authorities. According to Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapat, the woman
appears to have been murdered somewhere and her corpse placed along the highway
by the suspects in order to dispose of the evidence. A forensic team has been
dispatched to the scene to gather evidence, he added, adding that the
deceased's identification has yet to be determined. Efforts are ongoing to
identify the lady and locate the accused, the SP said.
