Roy Choudhury died of a cardiac arrest in his sleep, they said.

A prominent figure in Bengali theatre and cinema, Roy Choudhury began his artistic career on stage and remained deeply associated with theatre throughout his life. Though theatre was his first passion, he later became a familiar face on Bengali television and in films, earning recognition for his supporting roles.

From the mid-1990s, he appeared regularly in several popular television serials and established himself as a dependable character actor.

His filmography included both commercial successes and critically acclaimed projects such as “Challenge”, “Le Halua Le”, “Bindass”, “Amazon Obhijaan” and “Chander Pahar”.
