Bhubaneswar, 09 March (H.S.): The Odisha government has decided not to open any new sub-treasuries in the state, as most treasury-related services are now being carried out through digital platforms.

From pension disbursement and challan submission to bill processing, a wide range of treasury functions are being handled online via the e-voucher system, reducing the need for physical treasury offices. Currently, 169 treasuries are operational across Odisha.

The information was shared in the Assembly by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, who was replying on behalf of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Harichandan highlighted that the digitisation of treasury services has allowed government departments to complete many official procedures without visiting treasury offices in person.

“Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of various departments can now prepare bills and other necessary documents through the treasury portal. The e-voucher system has streamlined administrative work, eliminating the need for officials to visit treasuries for routine financial transactions,” the Minister said.

The move reflects Odisha’s ongoing efforts to modernize administrative processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce physical dependency on government offices.
