Kolkata, 09 March (H.S.) : Panic gripped the Suri District Court on Monday after an email claimed that a bomb had been planted inside the court premises.
According to officials, the threat email was received from an unidentified email address earlier in the morning, warning that an explosive device had been placed in the court complex and could detonate at any time.
Following the alert, a police team led by an officer from Suri Police Station rushed to the spot along with a bomb disposal squad. Security personnel carried out a thorough search operation across the court premises to detect any suspicious objects.
However, officials later confirmed that no explosive device or suspicious item was found during the search.
Authorities said this is not the first such incident at the court. Earlier as well, a similar bomb threat had been reported at the Suri District Court, as well as at several other courts in the state, but no explosives were discovered during those searches.
Police are now investigating the source of the email and efforts are underway to identify the sender.
