Lucknow, 08
March (HS): Amid criticism over failures at President Droupad Murmu's event in
West Bengal, BSP president Mayawati stated on Sunday that everyone must respect
the President's office in line with the values and dignity of the Constitution
and avoid politicizing constitutional positions in any way.
President
Murmu expressed disappointment with the limited participation at a tribal
community celebration near Bagdogra airport on Saturday, questioning the choice
to change the location from Bidhannagar. She also mentioned the absence of West
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her ministers during her visit.
In a post
on X, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) head stated, Everyone must respect
the office of the President in accordance with the ideals and dignity of the Constitution
and avoid politicizing constitutional positions in any manner.
She
stated that everyone must respect the President's office and adhere to the
established etiquette. President Murmu is not just a woman but also a tribal
person, and the recent events during her visit to West Bengal should not have
occurred, she said. What transpired during the President's recent visit to West
Bengal was unnecessary. Mayawati wrote that it is terribly regrettable. The
former Uttar Pradesh chief minister expressed alarm over the increasing
politicisation of the Lok Sabha Speaker's job in recent years. She stated
that constitutional positions should be prioritized before party politics and
that their dignity should be upheld by everyone.
Mayawati
also expressed optimism that the forthcoming session of Parliament, which
begins on Monday, will function smoothly and in the best interests of the
nation and the people. People
anticipate the session to go well and to address national and public welfare
problems. This is also the necessity of the hour, she said.
