Digboi (Assam), 28 March (HS): Upper Assam Congress leader Lakheswar Moran, who was denied party tickets by both Congress and Raijor Dal, has made sensational allegations, claiming that money was demanded in exchange for candidature.

Moran alleged that he was advised to arrange ₹50 lakh for another ticket aspirant, Dulal Moran, in the name of securing a party nomination. He further claimed that despite assurances from Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi regarding a ticket, he was ultimately sidelined. He also accused Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi of similarly denying him an opportunity to contest under the party banner.

According to Moran, he had spent a significant amount of money in the process of joining Congress, but was left disappointed after not receiving the ticket. Following the alleged denial and dissatisfaction with both parties, Moran is now contesting the election as an independent candidate from Digboi constituency.

The allegations have stirred political reactions in the region, although no official response has yet been issued by the leaders named in the claims.---------
