28 March (HS): Under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission, a two-day
state-level farmers' fair and seminar was organized at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra
(KVK), SHUATS, Prayagraj. The program aimed to provide farmers with information
on new horticulture technologies, improved varieties, and modern agricultural
practices.
The
farmers' fair was inaugurated by Legislative Council member Dr. Surendra
Chaudhary. He described horticulture as a powerful means of increasing farmers'
income and encouraged them to adopt new technologies. He said that through
horticultural crops, farmers can earn more profit at lower costs. He said that
by taking advantage of various government-run schemes, farmers can
significantly increase their income. In this sequence, four enterprising
farmers were respectfully welcomed with bouquets of flowers, and the honorable
chief guest also presented certificates to the Krishi Sakhis.
During the
program, agricultural scientists and experts provided detailed information on
various modern agricultural practices, including advanced techniques for fruit,
vegetable, and flower production, nutrition management, pest and disease
management, coarse grain cultivation, natural farming, drip and sprinkler
irrigation systems. In addition to introducing farmers to new technologies, the
fair also provided information on improved crop varieties and equipment,
enabling farmers to increase their income by adopting modern farming.
The
program was concluded by Dr. Praveen Charan, Director of Extension, SHUATS
Prayagraj. In his address, he urged farmers to increase production and income
by adopting scientific methods. Approximately
350 to 400 farmers from various blocks of Prayagraj district enthusiastically
participated in this two-day farmers' fair and seminar and gained new
information related to horticulture. At the end of the program, Dr. Mukesh P.
Masih, in-charge of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Prayagraj, expressed his
gratitude to all the visiting farmers and promised to continue providing
technical information to farmers through such programs in the future.
