Dibrugarh (Assam), 28 March (HS): In a significant political development ahead of the elections, Congress candidate Bipul Gogoi faced strong resistance from tea garden workers in Tingkhong on Saturday, who reportedly turned him away and openly declared their support for rival candidate Bimal Bora.
According to sources, the incident occurred during Gogoi’s campaign outreach when tea workers questioned his absence over the years and expressed dissatisfaction with the Congress leadership. “Where were you all these days? Now you have come only during elections,” the workers reportedly said, voicing their anger.
The workers further asserted that they would cast their votes in favour of Bimal Bora and ensure his victory in the constituency. The development reflects growing discontent among a section of tea garden labourers, which could influence the electoral dynamics in Tingkhong.---------------
