Guwahati, 27 March (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure a historic victory in the upcoming assembly elections, citing strong public support and robust organisational preparedness.
Speaking to the media amid ongoing campaign activities, Sarma said the party has received an overwhelming response during its outreach programmes, particularly the Vijay Sankalp Yatra. He noted that large numbers of people have extended their blessings to the BJP, strengthening its prospects for a decisive mandate.
The Chief Minister also sharpened his attack on political opponents, especially Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). He claimed that the BJP has already neutralised forces working against Assam’s interests and asserted that remaining challenges would also be addressed in the coming phase.
According to the Election Commission of India, polling for all 126 assembly constituencies will be held on April 9, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.------------
