Malappuram ,27 March (H.S.):

In a politically significant development ahead of the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan held a crucial meeting with prominent AP Samastha leader Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari Thangal at the latter’s residence in Kadalundi.

The meeting is being viewed as a strategic move by the Congress-led opposition to strengthen ties with influential religious and community leadership within the AP Samastha faction. Bukhari Thangal, who also serves as the State General Secretary of the Kerala Muslim Jamaath, is considered a key figure with considerable influence among sections of the Muslim community in Kerala.

Speaking after the interaction, Bukhari Thangal emphasized that every vote should stand firmly against communalism. He called upon voters to support those who are committed to safeguarding democratic values, underlining the importance of political awareness within the Kanthapuram-led faction. He noted that the group possesses a clear understanding of the political landscape and the responsibility that comes with it.

The meeting assumes added importance in the context of intensified political outreach efforts by major parties in the state, as alliances and community engagements begin to shape the contours of the electoral battle.

Notably, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also met Bukhari Thangal earlier, indicating that leaders across the political spectrum are keen to engage with the AP Samastha leadership. Responding to questions about such interactions, Bukhari Thangal remarked that meetings with political leaders are a regular occurrence and part of ongoing discussions with various stakeholders. He added that not all friendly discussions can be disclosed publicly.

With elections on the horizon, such engagements are expected to play a pivotal role in influencing voter sentiment and consolidating support across key communities in Kerala.
