South 24 Paragnas, 24 March (H.S.): A man was found murdered with his throat slit in Raidighi area of South 24 Parganas district, the police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday night in Mena area under booth number 216 of Dighirpar gram panchayat in Raidighi.
The deceased has been identified as Kishore Majhi, a resident of the same locality.
The incident led to a war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Trinamool Congress. The BJP claimed that Majhi was an active party worker and alleged that he was killed due to political rivalry by Trinamool workers.
The Trinamool Congress, however, dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused the BJP of attempting to cover up its internal factional feud.
Meanwhile, the police said another angle has emerged during the investigation. Three persons, including the victim’s wife and her alleged lover, have been detained in connection with the murder.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the crime may have been committed due to strained personal relationships, the police said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and further investigation is un
derway.
