
Guwahati, 24 March (HS): The scrutiny of nomination papers for the General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, 2026 was conducted on Tuesday, with the process successfully completed for 124 out of the total 126 constituencies.
According to official sources, scrutiny proceedings for two constituencies—24 Barpeta (SC) and 65 Dhekiajuli—have been adjourned and will resume at 11 am on March 25.
Out of the nominations examined across 124 constituencies, a total of 776 candidates have been found eligible to contest the elections. Overall, 815 candidates had submitted 1,389 nomination papers for the Assembly polls.
The Election Commission has set March 26, 2026, up to 3 pm, as the last date for withdrawal of candidature.-------
