Srinagar, 24 March (H.S.): Rich tribute were paid to 24 Martyrs of Nadimarg massacre of 23rd March 2003 at their native place Nadimarg near here today.
A grand tribute giving ceremony was organised by Ard Nareshwar Trust Nadimarg on the occasion in which besides the residents of Nadimarg from Jammu and other parts of country the local people from village and sorrounding areas participated.
The function was chaired by president of Ardh Nareshwar Trust Bushan Lal Bhat and besides DC Shopian, SSP Shopian, Commandant RR 44Bn and local MLAs and prominent people participated.
On the occasion Shahid Samarak constructed for 24 martyrs was also dedicated to people. The speakers while recalling the sacrifice of these martyrs said that they laid down their lives for nation and country will remember them always besides their sacrifices will not go waste.
A prayer meeting was also held for eternal peace of bereaved souls. The speakers termed the massacre of innocent people a barbaric and inhuman act as the marauders did not even spare children and women. This was a blot on humanity, they added.
