Kolkata, 02 March (H.S.) : The final publication of the voter list following the Special Intensive Revision process in West Bengal has revealed striking figures, with no new voter applications received in a significant number of Assembly constituencies across the state.

According to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, out of the state’s total 294 Assembly constituencies, as many as 99 recorded zero applications for inclusion of new voters through Form 6 during the entire revision period that began in December last year. This effectively means that nearly 34 percent of the constituencies saw no new voter registrations during the exercise.

Among the constituencies with zero applications, the highest number was reported from border districts adjoining Bangladesh. Nadia district accounted for the largest share, with 14 Assembly segments reporting no fresh applications. Election officials said that despite sustained awareness campaigns during the revision period, many areas witnessed little response from potential new voters.

Officials, however, clarified that there is still time for eligible voters to apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls. Applications through Form 6 can be submitted until the last date for filing nominations for the upcoming Assembly elections, leaving room for the figures to change in the coming weeks.

The revision process has also seen a large-scale deletion of names from the electoral rolls. As per the latest list published on Saturday, a total of 6,178,245 names have been removed so far, with the number expected to rise further. Around 6 million additional voters are currently under document verification by judicial authorities.

A significant portion of the pending verification cases has been reported from border districts such as Murshidabad district, Malda district, and North 24 Parganas district, where document scrutiny is underway as part of the ongoing revision exercise. Officials indicated that the verification process is being carried out thoroughly, particularly in these sensitive border regions.
