Guwahati, 02 March (HS): At least Three persons, including a woman were arrested by Paltan Bazar Police in Guwahati for allegedly possessing fake gold weighing over one kilogram.

According to Guwahati Police, acting on a specific input, a team launched an operation in the Nepali Mandir area under the Paltan Bazar police station, police informed on Monday. During the operation, the police recovered 1 kg and 31 grams of fake gold and apprehended three individuals on the spot.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mihirjan Islam (25) of Barpeta, Mohammad Hanif Ali (24) of Laluk, and the alleged mastermind of the racket, Mehrjan Nessa (30), a resident of Laluk, who was taken into custody at Harmoti OPD. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and legal proceedings have been initiated, police said.---------------
