Guwahati, 02 March (HS): Paltan Bazar Police in Guwahati arrested one person allegedly involved in circulating fake currency notes during an operation carried out in the city.

Police said on Monday that acting on specific intelligence, a team conducted a raid in the Ulubari area under the Paltan Bazar police station and apprehended the accused along with counterfeit notes.

The arrested accused has been identified as Asib Alam (23) of Lakhimpur. During the operation, police recovered fake currency notes worth ₹6,80,500 in ₹500 denominations, an iPhone and ₹620 in cash from his possession.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and intensive interrogation of the arrested accused is currently underway, police added.----------
