
Latur, 02 Mar (HS): Renowned thinker, former MP and former Vice-Chancellor Dr
Janardan Madhavrao Waghmare died on Monday at a ripe age of 91. The last rites
wil be performed at his native village Kawtha in Ausa Tehsil of Latur district
at 11 am on Tuesday.
Born on 11 November, 1934, he dedicated his entire life for the case of
education, literature, research and politics. He was founder principal of Swami
Ramanandteerth Maratahwada University, Nanded and was instrumental in
developing infrastructural facilities there. He was also the first Municipal
chief appointed by the people, who during his tenure worked on basic facilities,
cleanliness and water supply. Under his
leadership Latur won the first award in Maharashtra for cleanliness. The Latur
Pattern in Education was conceptualised by Dr Waghmare.
