Sambalpur, 02
March (HS): Odisha Police searched the Sambalpur district court building on
Monday after receiving an email threatening to bomb the courthouse, according
to an official.
The threatening email, written in Odia, was received at 10 p.m. on Sunday,
prompting local police to deploy a bomb disposal team, sniffer dogs, metal detectors,
and other equipment to search the courthouse. Every nook and cranny of the
court grounds was searched for explosives. However, authorities said that no
evidence was discovered. According to police, the practice resumed on Monday
morning, and this is the third such threat received by authorities in the last
two months. On two previous occasions, menacing communications arrived via
email.
The court premises inspection was finished by
Monday morning, and nothing unusual was discovered. Security has been
reinforced in the region as a precaution. A senior police official stated that
enhanced protection will stay in place until further notice. Earlier this
month, many other courts in Odisha received identical bomb threats, all of
which proved out to be a fake.
