(HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked Sarojini Naidu's death anniversary
on Monday, praising her commitment to women's emancipation and national growth.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath routinely pays tribute to Sarojini
Naidu (1879-1949), the first woman governor of Uttar Pradesh (then the United
Provinces) from 1947 to 1949. He honors her as a poet, patriot, emancipator,
and advocate for women's rights, hailing her as India's Nightingale. CM Yogi
pays homage, citing her as an important character in the independence movement
and an inspiration to future generations. Yogi Adityanath emphasizes Naidu's
position as a close companion of Mahatma Gandhi and her leadership
in India's freedom movement. Sarojini Naidu was the first governor of the
United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh) from August 15, 1947 to March 2, 1949.
