Lucknow/Jaipur,

16 March (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the

negative impacts of cellphones on young children on Monday, warning that

excessive usage might affect their physical and mental health, while also

stating that drugs and smartphones are equally toxic. He recommended parents

not to give their children cellphones and instead to lead them toward education,

yoga, and physical activity. Adityanath told a religious gathering in Jalore

that excessive screen usage can harm one's vision, disturb daily routines, and

lead to despair. The youth of the country are responsible for its future. There

must be efforts to combat narcotics. He stated that drugs and cellphones are

both deadly, and that children should be safeguarded from both.

He stated

that youngsters who spend hours on their cellphones are missing out on

possibilities for self-development, and that online games and digital platforms

may lead to negativity and sadness. The UP Chief Minister further stated that

excessive smartphone use might lead to despair and suicide. I would advise moms

and sisters not to give youngsters phones. Allow the youngster to cry. If a

youngster spends the entire day on a smartphone, their eyesight suffers. The

time they spend on the phone may be better spent on textbooks, yoga, or

exercise, allowing them to advance in life. The chief minister recommended the

youth to minimize their smartphone usage, spend more time with their families,

and avoid using phones during meals and performing worship.

Smartphones,

when used excessively, can cause a new type of mental health condition.

Long-term exposure is causing depressed inclinations in adolescents and even

boosting suicidal impulses, he claims. Adityanath stated that the country's

future is dependent on the younger generation, and administrations must

guarantee that the youth are not abandoned.

Life has

both successes and failures. When faced with a setback, one should not panic.

With heavenly direction and patience, nothing can stop advancement. He went on

to say that young people should prioritize their own development while still

contributing to society. Adityanath also stated that smartphones should not be

used at night, save for essential calls.
