16 March (HS): The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Health
Sciences at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences
(SHUATS) organized a Two Days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Artificial
Intelligence Tools and Techniques in Biomedical Sciences” in online mode with
the support of Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Government of
India, New Delhi.
The
program began with a welcome address by Convenor Prof. (Dr.) Amita Verma, Head,
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean, Faculty of Health
Sciences, who emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence in
biomedical research. The program was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) GS Shukla, Dean,
Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Chief
Guest, Dr. (ir.) Abhilasha J. Lal, Director (HRM&R) and Director (Campus
Ministry) at SHUATS, encouraged participants to adopt modern digital
technologies and interdisciplinary approaches in healthcare and biomedical
sciences. She emphasized the importance of continuous learning and shared her
philosophy that “one should keep learning,” which is clearly reflected in her
inspiring professional journey.
The
program featured a panel of highly distinguished international experts
including Dr. Jorge L. Mejía Méndez from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico;
Prof. (Dr.) Chiagoziem Otuechere from Redeemer's University, Nigeria; and Prof.
(Dr.) Firoz Anwar from King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. Reputed
national experts such as Dr. Nidhi Mishra from IIIT Prayagraj; Dr. Vinod Tiwari
from IIT-BHU; Prof. Sourabh Kosey from ISF Moga, Punjab; Dr. Prateek Pathak
from Gitam University, Hyderabad; Dr. Pulkit Verma from ICMR, New Delhi,
delivered expert lectures on artificial intelligence in drug discovery, digital
health research, Cheminformatics and scientific publishing.
Participants
from India and various international institutions actively engaged in the
sessions and interacted enthusiastically with the experts. Joina Gunjan Singh
served as the Master of Ceremonies for the program. The program concluded with
a vote of thanks delivered by the Coordinator, Dr. Jagat Pal Yadav. The aim of
the program was to promote the integration of AI in biomedical and
pharmaceutical research and to strengthen capacity building among faculty
members.
