
Mumbai, 16 Mar (HS): Maharashtra Government with Paani Foundation has planned
to reduce the problems faced by farmers during the drought situation. Chief
Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed to work on reducing scarcity of water in
some areas of the state for which the Paani Foundation has agreed to cooperate.
Fadnavis was talking during a meeting on
water conservation on Monday. Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture
Department Vikaschandra Rastogi, Principal Secretary of Rural Development
Eknath Dawle, Director of Nananji Deshmukh Krushi Sanjeevan Project Pariman Singh,
Founder of Paani Foundation Amir Khan and Kiran Rao, CEO of Paani Foundation
Satyajit Bhatkal and others attended the meeting through virtual mode.
Fadnavis said that effect of Al-Nino has
been predicted and the state is likely to get 80 per cent of the normal rains.
The farmers and villagers are expected to learn the methods of water
conservation.
Paani Foundation is working on importance
of water and the government agencies are ready to help them in its work, The
quality of work in soil and water conservation is appreciable and the agriculture
department is expected to cooperate and guide them for batter management of the
available water.
Bhatkal made a presentation in the
presence of Amit Khan, Kiran Rao and Amit Chandra. The Foundation has enrolled
13,121 volunteers to train the government employees and registered 16,260
farmers, including 57.56 per cent women, have been trained in water
conservation. Besides this 11,095 invitees have agreed to participate in the
mission.
