Lucknow, 16
March (HS): During an inspection of the community health centre (CHC) in
Chinhat on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak voiced
concern over inadequate hygiene and claimed neglect, according to sources. According
to an official statement, Pathak discovered various flaws during the unexpected
visit, including dirty hospital grounds and beds in the general ward that
lacked bed linens. He asked officials to send notifications to individuals
guilty and ordered that the sanitation agency's salary be deducted for one
week. The deputy chief minister, who also holds the health department
portfolio, arrived at the CHC unannounced and initially waited in line with
patients at the registration desk to observe the situation. He also talked with
patients to get input on hospital amenities.
He later
visited the pathology section, where a huge line of people waited. Pathak
inquired about the time it takes to obtain blood samples and urged technicians
to expedite the procedure so that patients do not have to wait too long. During
the inspection, he discovered dust in the X-ray room and quickly asked the crew
to clean it up. He also verified stock records by opening cupboards and went
over preparations in OPD room number five.
In general
ward number 28, the deputy chief minister voiced concern with the poor hygiene
and missing bed linens on multiple beds, reminding the staff that neglect in
patient care would not be allowed. He also inspected the bathrooms and drinking
water facilities, which were judged to be inadequate, and ordered prompt repair
action.
