
Jammu, 04 January (H.S.): All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC) today urged the Government to look into the burning problems of displaced Pandits from the Valley on priority basis.
Talking to reporters here, today AIKPC president, Rajinder Kilm along with other activists of his organisation including Sanjay Dhar, GL Bhat, Sameer Ganjoo and Vijay Qazi demanded that the Government should hold talks with leaders of his organisation on vital issues being faced by the displaced Pandits.
He demanded that the Engineering Wing be kept under the control of Relief and Rehabilitation Organisation as earlier to ensure the better coordination, accountability and timely execution of works in camps besides, immediate release of pending ex-gratia for burnt houses of KPs in Valley the estimates of which had already been framed by Revenue Department over two decades back after these houses and other properties of displaced Pandits were set ablaze by miscreants in Kashmir.
Kilm further demanded removal of encroachments from land of displaced Pandits in Valley and that of their religious places including temples, shrines and cremation grounds. The Agriculture and Horticulture land should be cultivated by the respective departments and the crops be given to land owners.
Besides, he demanded political and economic rehabilitation of displaced Pandits, special employment package by creating job avenues in UT as well as Central Governments. Kilm appealed Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to issue instructions to his ministers to visit camps and take stock of the problems of camp inmates. He also stressed on implementation of the NFSA schemes on displaced Pandits.
He stressed on formation of Apex Body of displaced Pandits from both camp and non camp areas, expediting of allotment of quarters to PM package employees in Kashmir, enhancement of relief to Rs 5000 per soul, displaced Pandits be allowed to cast vote in municipal wards at Jammu till their return to Valley, compensation to over aged youth with interest free loans and renovation of quarters in camps, besides settling other issues of camp inmates.
