Nagpur, 02 Jan
(HS): The drama in Nagpur’s Hazari Pahad prabhag ended due to intervention of
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday. One of the BJP workers Kisan
Gawande was locked in his home by the workers, to prevent him from withdrawing
nomination. Gawande filed nomination papers as an independent candidate, as BJP
rejected his application for the party ticket.
Gawande family
was not allowed to move out of its home as the workers had locked it and
workers were present outside it.
MLA Parinay
Phukey was deputed to convince the workers as the party had directed Gawande to
withdraw his nomination. The workers, however were not ready to allow Gawande
to withdraw the nomination paper.
Fadnavis, who
was present on dais during inauguration of the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in
Satara had to talk to the workers on phone.
The sources in
the party said that Fadnavis assured the workers that Gawande will be
accommodated as co-opted member. Following the assurance by Fadnavis the workers
allowed Gawande to move out and withdraw his nomination.
Talking to the
media Gawande said that he was trying to convince his supporters to allow him
to withdraw his nomination as per the party’s directive. “I am loyal to my
party, and whatever I could achieve is because of the party”, Gawande said.
