New Delhi, August 17 (HS): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for dedicating two landmark infrastructure projects—the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2)—to the capital. She emphasized that these transformative initiatives reflect how the double-engine government is turning aspirations into reality by fostering prosperity through enhanced connectivity.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Gupta lauded Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, describing him as a statesman who places the interests of every citizen, every state, and the nation above political boundaries. She remarked:
“Prime Minister Modi exemplifies the spirit of national service that places the country’s progress above all else. His vision for India extends far beyond infrastructure—it encompasses self-reliance, cultural renaissance, and the principle of Antyodaya, ensuring that no citizen is left behind.”
The Chief Minister further underlined the significance of the Centre–State partnership under the double-engine model, noting that it is steadily delivering on the goals of ease of living, world-class urban infrastructure, and smoother day-to-day life for Delhi’s residents.
“These projects are not merely expressways,” she observed, “but the very foundations of a modern, developed Delhi contributing to the vision of a developed India.”
The newly inaugurated projects are set to transform Delhi’s connectivity landscape.
-UER-2 Corridor: Stretching from Alipur on NH-44 through Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka to Mahipalpur on NH-48, this corridor will reduce travel time from the Singhu Border to IGI Airport from nearly two hours to just 40 minutes.
-Both UER-2 and the Dwarka Expressway are expected to significantly ease congestion on Delhi’s Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, and major traffic nodes including Mukarba Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Peeragarhi, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-9.
-By integrating multiple national highways—NH-44, NH-9, and NH-48—the projects will serve as vital lifelines for Delhi-NCR connectivity.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s people-centric approach, the Chief Minister noted that before the formal inauguration, PM Modi personally interacted with and honoured the workers whose dedication made these projects possible.
In conclusion, CM Gupta described the occasion as a historic milestone, symbolizing Delhi’s firm belief in the vision of a stronger, more prosperous, and culturally enriched India under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
