Lucknow, 18 Aug (HS): The reserved

category candidates involved in the 69000 teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh

gheraoed the Basic Education Minister's residence on Monday. A large number of

candidates who arrived are raising slogans in front of the minister's

residence. A heavy police force is deployed on the spot. The candidates say

that there were widespread irregularities in the 69 thousand teacher

recruitment due to which thousands of reserved category candidates were

deprived of getting a job. There was a long hearing of this case in the High

Court and the decision came in their favor. But due to the negligence of the

government, it could not be implemented and now this matter is in the Supreme

Court.

The candidates allege that the

government is shying away from presenting its case in the Supreme Court. These

candidates are demanding that the government should make a strong plea in the

Supreme Court and get this matter resolved soon. More than 20 dates were fixed

in the court, but the hearing could not take place.

Amarendra Patel, who was leading the

protest, told reporters that this recruitment process started in the year 2018.

When its result came, injustice was done to the candidates of reserved category

on a large scale and they were denied jobs. After going through a long

agitation and judicial process, on August 13, 2024, the double bench of Lucknow

High Court gave a verdict in the interest of the candidates of reserved

category and ordered the appointment of candidates within three months

following the rules. But the government kept procrastinating in this matter and

the matter went to the Supreme Court. The government is also being negligent in

the Supreme Court, due to which we had to take to the streets today. Our demand

is that the government should advocate strongly for us in the Supreme Court and

get us justice soon.
