Bhubaneswar, 16 August (H.S.): A major controversy has rocked the Odisha Police following the disappearance of Astarang Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Rajesh Baliarsingh, who was recently suspended over alleged links with ganja trafficking networks.
Baliarsingh, previously under investigation for suspected connections with narcotics syndicates, was suspended by the Inspector General of Police after fresh allegations emerged. His alleged involvement first came to light during his tenure as a Sub-Inspector at Jeypore Town police station, where concerns were raised about his leniency towards drug networks.
According to sources, a special team from Koraput had brought Baliarsingh to the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar for questioning. The team had been in the city for two days to pursue the investigation. On Friday, he underwent a detailed interrogation session. However, within hours, it was reported that Baliarsingh had managed to exit the police premises without authorization and is now untraceable.
Late-night searches were conducted at his Bhubaneswar residence, and multiple raids are underway at various locations to locate the absconding officer. As of now, no official statement has been issued by senior police authorities or Baliarsingh himself regarding the incident.
